Maison Auzier

Our Story

Maison AUZIER was founded in 1923 by Léon AUZIER. At that time, there were five confectioners in Montpellier, all of whom made licorice, gumdrops, marshmallows, and dragées. They were the last successors of a guild dating back to the Middle Ages, when confectionery stood alongside pharmacy, in a city where Jacques Cœur had introduced products from the East.

In Montpellier, in the time of Rabelais, apothecaries multiplied their inventions, and students offered dragées to celebrate their theses. Today, AUZIER CHABERNAC continues Montpellier’s tradition through its savoir-faire and traditional recipes: vanilla paste, licorice paste, honey licorice, marshmallows and, of course, dragées.
